Rust hole through the door because of moisture getting behind a tar pad VW glued on the inside of the door for sound deadening reasons. This pad had come unglued and was retaining water that ran down the door when the car was in the rain or being washed. I was told that this is a typical VW problem. I would go through the trouble of opening any door that is saveable on VWs and sealing the area around the pad with POR-15 before it's too late. It's too late for this door so repairs have to be made.
